Director of Engineering
After a twenty-five year career with a large manufacturing company in the automotive sector, I found myself in a position of starting a new career. I began my search by creating a resume, phoning contacts I had made over the years, and searching Internet posting sites. After about six weeks with no success, I was getting frustrated. During a conversation with a headhunter, it was suggested that I contact MMI After the first week of working with MMI, my feeling of frustration began to fade. I was now working with professionals and using a process that had a track record of success. I felt like I was in control of my future again. The hardest part of the process was making the follow-up calls. My Team Leader provided great support and kept me focused on the positive. After I got through the first dozen calls, I began to feel more comfortable and more skilled. During that time, I had a number of very interesting conversations with companies that expressed interest. From those conversations, I had twelve follow-up phone interviews and six in-person interviews. I received one offer during an interview and two additional offers following the interviews. I accepted one of the offers and started my new career as the Director of Engineering at a great company in the van and light duty truck equipment industry. The ‘reverse search’ process works if you are focused, follow through with every step, and stay with it.
